Arjen van der Kieft started skating at the age of six years at his ice club with youth ice skating with as trainer his dad. At the age of 13 it become clear he was a talent of his club. He was invited for the C-junior selection at his home rink, Haarlem.
His second Junior national championschis in the winter of 1999-2000 brouht him his first national titel at the Juniors-C category. In 2001-2002 he was again national champion but now in the older category: Junior B.
Since then Arjen has been in diffent teams: Track team, Region team, National Junior Team (Jong Oranje), Opleidingsteam, skating without a team and now in the trainings team of Anni Friesinger. Last season Arjen van der Kieft was champion at 5000m and 10.000m at the Winter Universiade of Harbin, China 2009. His best result at World Cup: Winner 5.000m B-division and 8th at the A division, both in Heerenveen. |
